CREATE A NEW TOPICNew Businesses in Tyler County
I am wondering what kind of new business would folks be willing to support around here. There are no wrong answers, just curious.

JonnieP - Do you have any "woman friends" also who are willing to help?? jk. Many of us are willing and ready to help, just need the opportunity to do it. Can't wait to get something going on the website. Glad it is going to happen. Those of us with a positive attitude will prevail and proceed to build better communities and county. After all, we are ALL Tyler Countians, aren't we?

Well that is fine if they pull it. It doesn't mean we stop. You need any help let me know. I have great ideas. If the county wants to be involved then that is great. If not then we can make it anyway and use advertisement as you mentioned to support the website and possible making a profit off of it to reinvest in the community if you would like. If needed be it is easy to set up a non-profit to keep the local and federal gov in check. Let me know what is happening. Let me know what commission meeting your going to and i will support you. thanks for this.

JonnieP, unfortunately, the post that was created for people to submit ideas was pulled because the TSN considers it as selling good and services. I hope to make arrangements to meet with the Tyler County Commission and make the site for all of Tyler County, not just Sistersville or Middlebourne. Each should have their own link and once things get approved we will look at advertising as a way to pay for the site. This will not be just my idea of the site but a concentrated effort to obtain ideas from everyone - whether business or personal.

I am glad to see someone is getting into this website deal. I think the best way of going about it is to check out larger cities websites for some pointers. Middlebourne does need an up to date website with links on both websites or just one common website. We might need one for friendly as well. There should be grants out there to help on cost and maintenance. I will look for some. Has anyone talk to the city council or the mayor about receiving funding or ideas. Just don't let one person govern the outcome of the website. The website is the peoples and everyone should submit ideas for it but of course you must take the ideas that focus on the point of the website.

IamChaz, no worries about the situation. Jonay was very nice about it and explained what happened and I fully understand. She extended her assistance if needed and I am planning on advertising in the TSN when the time comes.

Then we will look at it as the Tyler County Website and have at least two links that focus on the two main towns - Sistersville and Middlebourne. I guess I need to add meetings with the County Commission and the Middlebourne Town Council.

TR: It was probably my response that got the thread yanked. Look forward to meeting you and talking about your ideas. Opinion may be right, if a website is going to be promoting tourism it could include info on Middlebourne as well, afterall, it is a very senic drive up into the hills and it does have the museum and the fair grounds. Middlebourne (dot) net also is a great site, love looking through the photos.

I apologize everyone for the loss of the thread for the website. I have found out that it violates part of the terms and conditions regarding selling goods and services. This will not deter me from creating the site. IamChaz, I will be stopping by in the next week or so for more input. I apologize for any confusion and will keep you up-to-date.

Sorry all! I started a thread for ideas on the Sistersville site and it was completely removed. Not sure why, but I have questioned it.

IamChaz, I would be happy to help do a website. I have a degree in Web Design. I will begin a thread elsewhere for suggestions on colors and any other ideas.

There is a nice video slide show with singing by the SES choir on youtube. It could be a start for a website. ***********youtube****/watch?v=aP1GlSsF9Js

JusT read in the TSN about plans for a "gateway" to be constructed to span Diamond St. resting on 2 oil derricks on each side of the street saying "Welcome to Sistersville". I've seen these other places (St. Marys' Marina has a nice one) and they are very attractive, adding more to the look and feeling of the town. These and other cosmetic improvements make it more appealing. No, it isn't an immediate job-maker, but a part of a bigger plan. Before criticizing that this is not a job-maker, realize there are many facets that need improvements for it to all come together eventually.

Not sure about anyone else but all I see is "TALK" in regards to the Wells Inn going back many months, in fact over a year now. Alumni has come and gone and the doors are still locked with only a sign and mention of a "Tea Room" coming soon. (I won't comment on your "Tea Room" but best of luck with that.) I'm no rocket scientist but things appear lack-luster in reality except for all of this chit chat about nothing. Those of us whom have an active business model are waiting on the "Wells" to reopen to hopefully bring our ideas to fruition. "Ghost Tours of Sistersville" ....... can't do it without the facility being open. . . . :)

Chaz, someone started a facebook page on Sistersville. Has several old pictures of the town. Includes pictures of both fires (1970 and 1982) and their aftermaths.
