Wildcats Win Tri-Match

Paden City players celebrate a point during a recent match. The Wildcats defeated both Class AAA John Marshall and Magnolia, the defending Class A champs, in a tri-match.

PC took down Magnolia for the second time this season with a three set 23-25, 25-22, and 25-15 victory on the Blue Eagles home court during a Tri-Match which also included John Marshall. After Magnolia defeated John Marshall in the first match of the night, Paden City got their turn and jumped on the Monarchs from up the river winning in two sets 25-18 and 25-14 to send the AAA school home without a win on the night.

That set up the much anticipated match between the two Class A powerhouses. Set one was what everyone expected as the two schools battled back and forth with Magnolia holding an 11-4 lead before Wildcat Coach Jennifer Yeater called timeout to settle her squad down. The Cats then picked up four straight points to make it 11-7 but a kill by Magnolia’s Kendra Pilant and a service point by the Blue Eagles took the score to 13-7 Magnolia. Paden City then went on a service run by Mallory Yeater to tie the set at 13.

The Blue Eagles answered back with two points, but the Wildcats again rallied to tie the socre at 18 before Magnolia pulled away at the end with two straight points for a 25-23 win.

Set two was more of the same as the lead changed hands nine times in the contest with Paden City finally getting a five point advantage 22-17, but Magnolia rallied right back to tie it at 22 before the Wildcats got a strong kill from Hope Weber and two service points to close out the set.

Paden City wasted no time in set three as they jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead and never trailed to pick up the match win 25-15 for a sweep of the regular season series. For Paden City Yeater led the charge with 14 points, 2 aces, 8 kills, 18 assists and 13 digs. Weber also had a big night hammering down 18 kills and getting 6 points, 7 assists and 10 digs. Freshman Tanley McEldowney continued to demonstrate her athletic abillity by getting 21 digs in the match along with 8 points, 3 aces, 1 kill.

Brandis Dalrymple played well around the net scoring 4 kills, 4 blocks, 1 dig, while McKenzie Thomas offered a good nights work with 4 points, 4 assists, 7 digs. Madi Kline stepped up to the service line and got Madi Kline 6 points, 5 aces, and 1 dig. Cora Anderson played well with 3 points, and 9 digs and Maggi Still got 2 kills, 3 assists, 1 dig.

Wildcats improve to 25-4 with win over St. Marys

Paden City showed up big at St. Marys on Tuesday Night, October 15, as they jumped on top of the Blue Devild early and never let up with a three set 25-12, 25-6, 25-14 Volleyball match win to move to 25-4 as the season is starting to wind down towards tournament play. The Wildcats won

Leading the charge for the Cats were juniors Mallory Yeater and Hope Weber while Coach Jennifer Yeater also got great support from the remaining cast. Freshman libero Tanley McEldowney fnished a good nights work with 18 digs and three points including an ace. Yeater was on fire at the service line as she drilled 22 points which included fire aces. She filled the stat sheet as she also hammered down eight kills, while registering 21 assists and 11 digs.

The Blue Devils had no answer for Weber who played with great emotion knocking down 12 kills, addidng 11 points ,including an ace, and getting eight assists, one block and seven digs.

Cora Anderon came up with 6 points, 3 aces, 1 kill, 11 digs for a good nights work, while Maggi Still 1 point, 4 kills, 2 assists and 3 digs, Brandis Dalrymple 6 kills, 3 blocks, Loren Little 4 points, 1 ace, 1 kill, 4 digs, Hallie McDonald 1 kill, 2 blocks, 1 assist, 2 digs, Isabella Beverlin 4 points, 1 dig and McKenzie Thomas 1 point, 1 dig finished the score sheet for Paden City.
