Knights Hammer Highlanders

Tyler Consolidated made the trip to Upper Glade one to remember as the Knights thumped the home team 70-31 behind the running, passing and receiving of seniors Mark Rucker and Gage Huffman.

Rucker ended his nights work scoring five touchdowns and five two point conversion runs to give him 40 points for the game. He also had 274 yards rushing on just 18 carries and caught two passes (both for touchdowns) for 38 more yards. Huffman was just as effective as Rucker as he accounted for six touchdowns, three rushing and three passing, while also passing for two conversions and running for another. Rushing he gained 68 yards on 12 carries and tossed a perfect game going 8-8 passing for for 98 yards and three scores.

Webster started the scoring in the first quarter to take a 7-0 lead but Tyler came right back and went on top 8-7. Both teams added another score in the first period but the Knights were up 16-13 after one.

The Highlanders scored first in the second frame to take a brief 19-16 lead, but from there it turned into the Rucker, Huffman and Walton show as the trio put the next 24 points on the board to head into the locker room 40-19 at the half.

The Silver Knights came out in the third quarter and continued to dominate as they put 22 more points on the board to Webster’s 12 and go into the last quarter with a 62-31 lead. Tyler tacked on eight more in the fourth to get the final score.

Besides Rucker and Huffman, freshman Ty Walton caught a 20 yard T.D. pass and added two two conversion catches. He finished with 3 catches for 24 yards and a score, while another freshman Caleb Strode grabbed a pass from Huffman for a 40 yard gain. Freshman Running back/wide receiver Jayden Helmick ran for 21 yards on two carries and caught on pass for 11 yards.

Defensively the Knights were led by Case Landis with nine solo tackles, five assists, a quarterback sack and a fumble recovery. Austin Timmons added four tackles and two assist while causing a fumble and recovering it. Walton had four tackles an assist and a fumble recovery while Nick DeBell add 7 tackles and an assist. Helmick had five solos and three assists.

The Silver Knights will return home on Friday where they take on Buffalo to try and pick up win number four. The Knights now stand at 3-2 on the season after dropping their first two games. Lokk for the Knights to come out on top this week 42-13.
