Wildcats claw the Blue Devils

Paden City Coach Jennifer Yeater said at the beginning of the year that the Cats volleyball team would face some struggles along the way this season, but with a 18-3 record those moments have been few and far between. Monday night they traveled to Beallsville to face a tough Blue Devil squad who has been a thorn in the Cats side over the years. This time with the Wildcats setting on top of the OVAC standings they made believers out of the home team as they took the match in three straight sets in relatively easy fashion, 25-16. 25-19, and 25-17.

With juniors Mallory Yeater and Hope Weber leading the way and senior Cora Anderson providing ample backup the team proved to be to much for Beallsville. The Wildcats had a great supporing cast with 10 players getting into the stat column. Yeater got 13 points, 1 ace, 8 kills, 20 assists, 17 digs, while Weber came through with 9 points, 2 aces, 16 kills, 12 assists, 1 block assist, 10 digs. Anderson also showed up big with 8 points, 1 ace, 2 kills, 2 block assists, and 7 digs.

Despite those great stats the Cats received impressive performances from Hallie McDonald 1 point, 4 kills, 4 blocks, 1 block assist, 3 digs, and Magi Still who provided 5 kills, 3 assists, 9 digs. Freshman Tanley McEldowney hit the floor for 12 digs, while McKenzie Thomas added 5 points, and 2 digs.
