Hunter Education Courses

Area hunter education courses have been announced. The locations and dates and times are as follows:

Monroe County, Ohio:

Sept. 28 and 29. Times are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the Saturday date, and 1-5 p.m. on the Sunday date. The class will be held at Broken Timber Outdoor Education Center, located at the Hannibal Industrial Park. Call 1-800 Wildlife to register. Class limit is 25.

Tyler County, W.Va.:

Aug. 10 and 11. Times are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the Saturday date and 1-5 p.m. on the Sunday date. Classes held at Alma Fire Hall in Alma. Class limit is 40. Register online at

Wetzel County, W.Va.:

Oct. 26 and Oct. 27. Times are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the Saturday date and 1-5 p.m. on the Sunday date. Classes held at the Wetzel County 4-H Camp. Travel Basketball Club

TCHS Boys' Basketball Vs. TC Alumni Basketball On May 10, 7 p.m., the Tyler Consolidated High School Boys Basketball team, headed by Coach Steven Nutter, will face-off against the TC Alumni Basketball Team, headed by Coach Rick Leach. Cost is $4 for adults and $2 for students. Event includes a 50/50 raffle. Proceeds benefit the TCHS TSA trip to Nationals.

Wood County Shootout

The Wood County Shootout will be held May 3-5 in Parkersburg, W.Va. This basketball tournament is being hosted by the Parkersburg Big Red and Parkersburg South Patriot boys basketball teams. The tournament is for boys and girls teams with the following grade divisions: third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth, junior varsity, and varsity.Each team will play a minimum of four games with format involving pool play and an elimination tournament. Boys and Girls Basketball Tournament Nearing

Parkersburg and Parkersburg South High Schools will host the 1st Annual Battle in the Burg basketball tournament May 31-June 2 in Parkersburg, WV. The tournament is for boys (2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, JV, Varsity) and girls (4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, JV, Varsity) teams, with a 3 game guarantee.

Format will be pool play and Sunday elimination tournament. Cost is $225 and entries are due Monday, May 27. Games will be played at Parkersburg High School, Parkersburg South High School, and the Elite Sports Center.
