Structure Fire Destroys Home on Hill Street in Sistersville

Sistersville Volunteer Fire Department (VFD) was dispatched to a structure fire on Hill Street in Sistersville around 10 a.m. on April 8. Sistersville Fire Chief Jason Wayne said the owner of the home was able to vacate the residence in time, and that no injuries were reported.

The home reportedly belonged to Ed Vossen, of Voss Pest Control.

The cause of the fire was not able to be determined. Wayne explained that by the time firefighters arrived on scene, the home was "too far gone" to be able to determine its cause.

Sistersville VFD called on the following agencies to assist in fighting the fire: Paden City VFD, New Martinsville VFD, and Shirley VFD. Sistersville EMS also responded in case of injuires.

Wayne reported that the fire was contained and extinguished after about three hours of work.
