Rival Tyler Consolidated took control of Paden City early on Thursday, Jan. 3 on the 'Cats home floor, jumping out to a 17-3 first quarter lead behind 10 points from senior Josey Jones. The Wildcats' Paige Leonard hit a nice looking three-point jumper to account for Paden City's only points in the first eight minutes. The Silver Knights never trailed as they went on to a 57-35 victory for their sixth girls basketball win of the season.

After the first quarter, the Knights knocked in 16 second quarter points, compared to the Wildcats' eight. Tyler extended their lead in the third period - outscoring Paden City, 11-4. Knights Coach Ben Thomas emptied his bench halfway through the third period, but Paden City couldn't make up the difference - despite outscoring the Silver Knights, 17-9, in the last frame.

Knights senior guard Josey Jones, who needed 44 points to reach 1,000 for her career, ended as the game's leading scorer with 20, while playing less than three quarters.
