Tyler Consolidated had trouble getting out of the blocks on Tuesday, Dec. 18, at home against Ritchie County. However, once the Silver Knights got started, there was no stopping them as they raced to a 79-63 victory over the visiting Rebels.

With six minutes off the first-quarter clock, the Knights had yet to dent the scoreboard, and Ritchie led, 8-0. That's when junior wingman Mark Rucker knocked down a long 3-pointer that hit nothing but net and got the Knights started on a nine-point run to take a 9-8 lead. Ritchie hit the next five points of the quarter to go up, 13-9, after one. Rucker had two three's in the first eight minutes, and Gage Huffman - a sharp-shooting junior guard, added three.

The second quarter started with Ritchie getting a three to go up, 16-9, but the Silver Knights then scored the next 19 points for a 28-16 lead with three minutes left in the second frame. Griffin Phillips had 14 points in the quarter, and Huffman hit two deep 3-pointers. Rucker put five points on the board. At the end of the first half, the Knights led, 38-27.
