Republican Mike Smith has won a seat on the Tyler County Commission, thanks to 1,869 votes votes cast in his favor. This is compared to 927 votes cast for Democrat Julia Archer.

"I'm very thankful to everyone who supported me and very thankful for this opportunity to serve Tyler County," Smith said of the victory.

Smith is a US Navy veteran and a 30-year employee of Monongahela Power. He and his wife Debra Heintzman Smith are life-long Tyler County residents who settled on a small farm near Middlebourne where they raised their children.

"Having worked for the power company, through the years I have been across almost every road of Tyler County and have grown very fond of the place I have called home for the last 54 years. I have witnessed the changes, both good and bad, that we all have endured," Smith previously stated during his campaign.
