Another Successful O&G Festival Closes

September 19, 2018
Tyler Star News

Another O&G Festival Is Behind Us Another West Virginia Oil & Gas Festival is in the books.

This was the 50th year for the occasion, and it was certainly a unique festival, though not just because of the milestone anniversary. Tropical storm remnants caused in

ch after inch of rain to fall, which led to flooding of multiple areas, including Sistersville's park - where a large portion of festival activities were to take place. This led the festival committee to make the tough decision to cancel all activities that were scheduled to take place in the park.

The parade, art show, and band competition at Tyler Consolidated still took place. The car show also ended up taking place, thanks to the generosity of Bell Chevrolet and the use of its car lot.

We are sure there are some who are critical of the committee's decision, but we are certain it wasn't made without thought. This festival takes months to prepare, and we are certain it isn't easy to change those preparations within a week's time.

We believe the events, that did take place, went off without a hitch. The car show had a decent turnout; the band competition was impressive; the art showcased the many talents of our area, and it certainly didn't rain on our parade.
