Ferryboat Festival Is July 27-29

The Ohio River Ferryboat Festival is set to make waves this weekend as vendors, music, and more will entertain the masses and celebrate the ongoing vitality of the Sistersville Ferry. Events are scheduled to take place on both sides of the Ohio River - in Sistersville, W.Va. and Fly, Ohio.

Friday, July 27 will be a day for vendors to set up in Sistersville. A free swim will be held at the Sistersville Pool from 12:30-6 p.m. This event is sponsored by the Friendly Lions Club. Also, a showing of The Iron Giant will be held at Sistersville Park from 6-8 p.m.

On Saturday, musical entertainment on the Sistersville side is as follows: Almost Famous Bluegrass Band, 1-3 p.m.; Tom Roddey (solo musician), 4-6 p.m.; and Riverside Drive, 7-9 p.m. Free bounce house access will be in Sistersville from 12-8 p.m. and a free swim at the Sistersville Pool will be held 12:30-6 p.m. This swim is sponsored by Lakeside General Store of Alma.

On the Ohio side, musical acts are as follows: K Lynn Dancers, 11 a.m. to noon; Steel Casa Drum Band, noon to 2 p.m.;. Karen Elliot (English Handbells), 2-3 p.m.; Lazy River Jazz Band, 3-5 p.m.; One Accord, 5-6 p.m.; Karissa Martin, 6-7 p.m.; Marietta Ukulele Band, 7-7:30 p.m.; The Clark Family, 7:30-9:30 p.m. Beginning at 9:30 p.m., there will be a showing of The Creature from the Black Lagoon.

Sunday's events include a free swim at the Sistersville Pool, sponsored by David L. Kelly. The swim will take place from 12:30-6 p.m. There will also be continued vendor shopping.

On the Ohio side, Jessica Schoonover will entertain from noon to 1:30 p.m., followed by The Peacemakers from 2-3 p.m.; the Backwoods Boogiegrass Band will play from 3-5 p.m.
