Filing Opens for Municipal Offices in Sistersville

Sistersville City Recorder Chad Edwards announced that the window for prospective candidates to file for municipal office in the City of Sistersville begins Jan. 8 and ends Jan. 27.

The March 22 election will include the following ballot positions:

* Mayor, a two year term currently held by William "Bill" Rice;

* First Ward Council Member, a four-year term currently held by Richard Long;

* Second Ward Council Member, a four-year term currently held by Chuck Heinlein;

* Third Ward Council Member, a four-year term currently held by Phil Konopacky;

* Fourth Ward Council Member, a four-year term currently held by Bonnie Hizer.

Filing forms can be picked up at the city building located on 200 Diamond Street. All candidates must pay a filing fee and have their forms motorized by Chad Edwards. Filing forms received in the mail must be postmarked by Jan. 27. Write-in candidates are required by law to file and must do so by Jan. 21.

The filing fee for council member is $10 while the fee for mayor is $20.
