Ritchie County took advantage of cold shooting by the Tyler Consolidated Silver Knights girls on Tuesday, Dec. 19, at the Knights gym, enroute to a 52-42 win. The Silver Knights dropped to 4-2 on the season.

The visiting Rebels jumped out to a quick 12-2 advantage as the Knights had four turnovers and missed their first seven shots before Amanda Reynolds hit a three ball, bringing the score to 12-5. Reynolds scored seven points in the first quarter, and freshman Regan Smith hit 1-2 free throws for all the Knights' points in the period.

Ritchie, however, knocked in 16 to take an eight point advantage after one.

The Silver Knights got going in the second frame by scoring 11, but the Rebels stayed tough and hit for 13 to take a 10 point lead at the half.

The third period belonged to Tyler as they scored 13 to Ritchie's 11, to bring the Knights back to within eight heading into the fourth quarter. Foul trouble was beginning to take its toll on the Knights as well, as they lost two starters and had a third with four.

The fourth quarter saw a comeback for the Knights as they tied the game at 40 with 4:05 left to play; however the Rebels turned up the pace and scored 12 of the next 14 points to get the win.

Tyler didn't have a double figure scorer in the game and was led by Amanda Reynolds with nine, Josey Jones with eight, and Alexa Johnson with seven.

JoLee Walton also scored seven, and Peyton Kocher hit two buckets. Miranda Weekley hit a basket from the corner for two and Cora Grimm knocked in two free throws.

"We just didn't play well tonight, our shots weren't falling and we just didn't play very good defense. These girls are a good group and they will bounce back. We will work to get some things straightened out and get ready for Willamstown on Friday," said coach Cathy Boggs.

Abbie Haught hit for 15 points for Ritchie while Ashley Davis scored 14, and Cassie Tallman added 10.
