Tyler Silver Knights Volleyball Team Earns the Honor

The Tyler Star News has chosen the Athletes of the week for November 8, 2017. The athletes come from Tyler Consolidated high school and include the entire Silver Knights volleyball team who put on an extraordinary performance in the state sectional tournament held at Paden City High School on Wednesday and Thursday, November 1,2.

The Silver Knights team found themselves down but not out as they came from behind in the semi-final match with Magnolia to uphend the Blue Eagles three sets to two after losing the first two. During the match, sets one and three went into overtime and set two was a 25-23 win to put Magnolia in a position to close it out. However the Knights resilance and determination propelled them to take the next thee and capture the win.

The following night the Silver and Black girls dug even deeper into their bag of tricks as they knocked off the number one seed Ritchie County in three straight sets, 25-14, 25-7 and 25-9. With the win they won the Region One, Section Two, title.

On Saturday they played in the regionals for an opportunity to make it to the state tournament in Charleston, Friday and Saturday. With their win over Weirton Madonna in the tournament they earner their spot and will be making their sixth straight appearance this weekend.
