The Silver Knights have been contenders all year long during the regular season and on Thursday, they went a step further as they took to the course in the State Regionals at Berkely Springs and came away with a six place team finish in the boys division among the 18 teams entered from all Classes. Out of the 107 runners testing the course the Silver Knights had eight finishers in the top 77 with Freshman standout Spencer Corley coming in at sixth place just seconds behind the top runner. Corley who came into the varsity season, quickly became a household name among state runners and has been ranked in the top 15 nearly all year. On Thursday he gave notice that he will be a runner to contend with for the next three seasons when he finished the race in a 17:46 while running with the top of the pack the entire race.

Several times this season he has finished near the top against the better runners in the state and has been on the awards stand at nearly every event. Look for him to give an all-out effort on October 28, at Cabell Midland High School in the state meet. There are big things ahaead for this young distance runner, his off season work ethic last year between Middle School and High School paid high dividends and it doesn't look like it will slack off anytime soon.

Also finishing respectable for the Knights boys were, Josh Frum with an 18:54, James Streets, 19:06, Creed Ammons, 20:04, Trey Keys, 20:26, Hadyn Brown, 20:47, and Gavin Corley, 21:09.

The Silver Knights Girls also landed a spot in the state meet when Jahnvi Duncan crossed the finish line in the 16th spot with a very good time of 22:13. As a team the Knights came in 11 with five runner crossing the line. Emma Paden, 24:48, Taylor Ebert, 30;02, Sarah Hashman, 34:34 and Sydney Smith, 35:31.
