Paden City Wildcats Get First Win of the Season

Three Paden City Wildcats rushed for over a 100-yards, helping the team to claim their first victory of the season against the Hundred Hornets on Sept. 22, at Clay-Battelle High School, on Homecoming Night by the score of 54-6.

In the first period, the 'Cats Rander Amos scored back-to-back touchdown runs of three-yards, while Drew Carpenter kicked one of two extra point kicks to give the visitors a quick 13-0 lead.

Michael Shreves tacked on their third three-yard touchdown, and Carpenter set up shop with his second of six conversion PAT's to give Paden City a 20-0 after one period of play.

Midway through the second period, Amos scored his third touchdown of the game. Four minutes later, Ryan Cross scooted down the field for a dazzling 41-yard touchdown run to push their lead to 34-0 at the break.

After the break, the Wildcats reserves got into the action, as Shreves hit Bryant McKay with a 14-yard touchdown strike, while Clayton Thomas tallied a two-yard run of his own to go up, 48-0 after the Carpenter kick.

However, the banged-up Hornets would not go down without a fight scored its lone touchdown on a 57-yard pitch and catch from Logan Norris to Jacob Kuhn to break up the shutout.

The Wildcats would add a Ryan Cross 38-yard touchdown scamper to seal the deal.

Amos rushed for 140-yards and three scores, while Shreves tacked on 130-yards on 10 touches, and one touchdown. Ryan Cross finished with 116-yards on seven carries and two scores, while Carpenter split the uprights on seven of his eight tries. In addition, Thomas ran for 26-yards on seven tries, while Dustin Thomas added five yards on five carries.

Defensively for the Wildcats, Amos, Shreves and Ryan Cross combined for 27 tackles, three tackles for loss of yardage, and five quarterback sacks. David Joy added a sack, while Jason Anderson and Ethan Cross each made an interception.

Meanwhile, Logan Norris was 6-11 for 107-yards and hit Skylar Goff for a 57-yard touchdown, while Andrew Zedell caught one for 16-yards, and Martin Baker hauled in a pair for 34-yards.

Defensively, the Hornets Brandon Rine made 11 tackles, while Bryce Bartrug made 10, and made an interception. Skylar Shuman made seven tackles.

The Hornets have a bye week before returning to action, while the Wildcats will travel to Cameron Friday to take on the Dragons with kick-off set at 7 p.m.
