Ravenswood proved to be to much for the Silver Knights on Friday, as they ran over, around and through the Knights defense for 305 yards on 44 carries and three touchdowns en-route to a 26-12 victory on the Knights home turf.

The Red Devils wasted little time it lighting up the board as they scored on their first possession when Jayden Rhodes went off tackle for an 11 yard touchdown with 9:13 left in the first quarter. The kick was good and the visitors held a 7-0 lead.

Each team traded possessions the rest of the quarter before Ravenswood got on the board again with only five seconds off the clock in the second frame on a Stephen Dawson seven yard run. Ryan Cunningham was true to his mark on his second extra point kick and it was a 14-0 game.

It didn't take the Silver Knights long to answer however, as Knights quarterback Griffin Phillips found Mark Rucker on a crossing pass route, and he did the rest as he cut against the grain, broke a couple tackles and went the distance for an 80 yard pass and run play with only 18 seconds off the clock since the Red Devils score. Phillips extra point try was off the mark and Ravenswood's lead was cut to eight.

The Red Devils continued to move the ball well on their next possession before Tyler's defense tightened up and forced a field goal try. The kick was good for a 37 yarder adding three points to the Red Devils total and they led 17-6 with 9:42 left before the half.

The Silver Knights added a score with 2:05 left in the half on a one yard one by Rucker for his second score on the night to pull Tyler to within five 17-12. The two point conversion run was stopped short and the Knights seemed to have the momentum as the half ended.

Tyler took the second half kickoff and put together a mini drive that stalled out forcing them to punt. However neither team could mount a scoring drive in the third and the Knights remained in striking distance going into the final 12 minutes.

Both defenses tightened up until Ravenswood moved into Knights territory and faced a fourth and six from the 23. They sent in Cunningham for another field goal try and once again he responded with a 33 yarder right down the middle, giving the Red Devils a 20-12 lead with 8:16 left.

After the Knights lost the ball on a fumble the Red Devils took advantage an ended the scoring with 19 yard run by Rhodes to extend the lead to 26-12 with 1:39 showing on the clock.

The game however was much closer than the score indicated with penalties and fumbles being the major difference. The Knights had 333 total yards to 356 for Ravenswood. Tyler was 12-22 passing for 236 yards to 3-7 and 51 yards for the Red Devils. Ravenswood ran the ball 44 times for 305 yards to Tyler's 30 rushes for 97 yards. The Knights fumbled 4 times losing one while Ravenswood never lost a fumble. The Knights had seven penalties for 80 yards to 8-61 for the visitors.

Rucker caught five passes for 108 yards, Brandon Weigle snagged four grabs for 61 yards, Colby Buchanan had one catch for 32 yards while Gage Huffman got a grab for 19 yards. Kyle Mason picked up 16 yards on one catch.

Phillips was the leading rusher with 51 yards on 13 carries while Rucker had 41 on 15 runs. Nate Lancaster had one rush for five yards. The Knights will try to get back to their winning ways at Knights Stadium on Friday night with a 7 p.m. game vs Calhoun County. Tyler now stands at 1-3 on the season.
