Tyler County Board of Education Approves Requests

The Tyler County Board of Education met recently where they discussed and approved the following requests:

Ashley Cochran requested permission to take the Tyler Consolidated High School TSA on the following trips: State TSA Conference at Cedar Lakes in Ripley, WV, on March 21 through March 24, 2018, and The National TSA Conference in Atlanta, GA, on June 22 through June 26, 2018. She also requests the following people be approved as chaperones: Ashley Moore, Seth Patterson and Matt Moore. Depending on the number of students involved, more chaperones may need to be added at a later date.

Melinda Walton requested approval for the following contracted services for the 2017-18 school year: Easter Seals Rehabilitation Center for Physical/Occupational Therapy Services; Paula Lang for Vision Services; and Integrated Speech Solutions, LLC for Speech Services. She also requests approval of the following Interagency Agreements: Tyler County Schools and the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation; Tyler County Schools and WV Birth to Three; and Tyler County Schools and AFL-CIO Appalachian Council, Inc. Head Start.

Erick and Jessica Kibbey requested permission for their children, Elaina, Julianna and Jackson Kibbey, to cross county lines to attend Tyler County Schools for the 2017-18 school year, pending release from Wetzel County Schools.

Amber Bland requested permission for her child, Jesse Bland, to cross county lines to attend A. I. Boreman Elementary School for the 2017-18 school year, pending release from Wetzel County Schools.

Ruth Helman requested permission for her daughter, Emma Helman, to be granted a leave of educational value from September 18, 2017, through September 25, 2017.

The Middle Island Harvest Festival Pageant requested permission to use the property of Arthur I. Boreman to hold their interviews and luncheon on Saturday, September 30, 2017, and Sunday, October 1, 2017, from 9:00 am through 9:00 pm. They also request use of the parking lot. The organization will be completely responsible for clean-up. If permitted, Melissa Smith will over-see this event.

The following resignations were recognized:

Judith Hamrick, Special Education Teacher at A.I. Boreman Elementary and Sistersville Elementary Schools, effective September 28, 2017.

Cindy Aliff, Substitute Teacher’s Aide, countywide, effective immediately.

Drema Hupp, Substitute Cook, countywide, effective immediately.

Julie Cozad, Social Studies Fair Coordinator at A.I. Boreman Elementary School, effective immediately.

Joseph L. Semple, Assistant Boys Track Coach at Tyler Consolidated High School, effective immediately.

Connie Fletcher, Instructional Aide and Autism Mentor at Arthur I. Boreman Elementary School, effective October 7, 2107.
