Picnic in the Park Goes Off With a Bang

July 12, 2017

Picnic in the Park was another great success this year despite the weather creating some difficulties. Due to the storm the night before, workers had to replace a busted water line near the pool, there was an electrical outage, and brush had to be cleared from the river banks. The brush had to be removed, burned and doused with water before the fire works show could happen in the evening. Despite all hiccups, the weather finally cooperated and made for a beautiful day for the event.

There were musical performances by the band "Bad Penny" as well as "The Sarah Hughes Band" throughout the day. Free swimming was sponsored by the Sistersville Planning Commission while free cake and ice cream were provided courtesy of Sistersville IGA.

Crafts, games, concessions, and even a rock climbing wall were available all day long.

Fireworks light up the sky after Picnic in the Park.

As the day progressed the streets began filling more and more with people in anticipation for the fireworks show. They were not disappointed as the gigantic fireworks display by Zambelli lit up the night sky bringing the evening to an end.
