The Knights baseball team is starting to turn some heads as it improved to 5-0 on Saturday with a twinbill sweep of Wirt County.
The Silver Knights have been impressive winning the first three but Saturday they turned it up a notch with a 6-0 first game win and then pounded the Tigers 10-0 in a five inning mercy rule win. Luke Daugherty went the distance in game one setting down five batters while issuing no walks. He also aided his own cause with a home run. Helping the Knights was Dylan Roberts with two singles and an RBI, while Nate Lanzt drilled an RBI double. Game two was all Tyler as they took a 9-0 lead after two and then added a run in the third to shut down the Tigers after 4.5 innings. Lantz was strong on the mound for the Knights with six strikeouts and no walks. Tyler West stood out at the plate with a single, a double and three RBI. Daugherty also added a single and a double for two RBI's. Trent Smith knocked in a run with a double of his own.
Both games were two hitters for the Silver Knights.

"The kids are working hard and continuing to improve. They have bought into our philosophy of throwing strikes, making routine plays, and getting on base at a high rate," said Knights Coach Robby Jones. Tyler Consolidated takes down Wildcats
The visiting Silver Knights moved to 2-0 on the season Tuesday, March 21, when they score five runs in the first three innings to hold off a Paden City sixth inning rally to claim a 5-3 victory. The Wildcats had the bases loaded with no outs in the second inning but couldn't bring in a run and the Knights took advantage plating four in the third for the 5-0 lead. The Cats again left runners on base in the fourth and fifth innings before getting three in the bottom of the sixth. Neither team was able to score in the seventh.
Senior Nate Lantz was steady on the mound for the Knights as he worked 5.2 innings with five strikeouts and three walks to get the win. Trent Smith came on in relief to get the save pitching one inning before Noah Smith came in to get the last out. The Silver Knights moved to 2-0 with the win while the Cat's fell to 1-1.
Hayden Hizer took the loss, pitching three innings giving up five runs while striking out three and walking five. Trey Slider came in to work three innings with two strikeouts and three walks and Matt Saxon threw the final inning.
Kyle Mason knocked in three runs with a double for the Knights while Tyler West added a double and Colby Buchanan went got a single on 1-3 at bats.
For the Wildcats Marcus Allen knocked in two runs with a single and Hayden Hizer got two singles with four at bats. Trey Slider singled for the Wildcats other hit.
TCHS Baseball Opens With Win
The Silver Knights looked impressive in their season debut as they downed the visiting Williamstown Yellow Jackets 3-1. Dylan Roberts took the mound for the Knights and struck out one batter while issuing three walks. Williamstown took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first but the Knights came back to tie the game 1-1 in the bottom of the third on a RBI double by Tyler West.
Luke Daugherty came on in relief for the Silver Knights in the fourth and held the visitors scoreless the next four innings recording four K's and only one walk.
The Knights added runs in the bottom of the fourth and sixth to come away with the win.
