Arley Shepherd
Arley Shepherd, 85, of Middlebourne departed this life Tuesday, February 28, 2017 in Marietta Memorial Hospital.
He was born February 28, 1932 in Clarksburg a son of the late David M. and Margaret Moore Shepherd.
Arley was a retired employee of Quartro 4, Consolidated Coal, Clarington, OH. He was a member of Middlebourne Masonic Lodge 34, St. Marys Chapter 31 Eastern Star, American Legion Post 48, past President of Valley Grange 519 and a member of United Mine Workers Union. He was an United States Army Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Daisy Moore Shepherd; three brothers; a sister and a great grandson.
Arley is survived by two sons: Steve Shepherd, Chicago, IL and Scott Shepherd and his wife Sara, Grandy, NC; two daughters: Brenda Goodfellow and her husband, Mark, Sistersville, and Lisa Shepherd, New Martinsville; a daughter-in-law, Stacey Shepherd, Middlebourne; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; his beloved dog, Candy, and several other pets.
Family received friends Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Furbee Funeral Home, Middlebourne where services were held Saturday 1 p.m. with Pastor Troy Guild officiating. Interment in Middlebourne Cemetery. Masonic rites by Middlebourne Lodge 34 and military rites by VFW Post, 6327, Sistersville, VFW Post 4634, New Martinsville, American Legion Post, 67, Sistersville, American Legion Post, 86, Paden City, American Legion Post, 28, New Martinsville and American Legion Post, 48, Middlebourne.
