The Ritchie County Rebels' boys' basketball team defeated the Silver Knights, 60-58, on Saturday in the first round of Class A Section Two of that bracket at St. Marys.
Jace Reed finished with 22 points eight shy of 1,000 for his career. Dylan Roberts added 11 for the Silver Knights.

In other sports news, Magnolia's Caleb Nice defeated his Nitro challenger, 7-2, to earn his spot in history as a state champion in wrestling at the 70th annual W.Va. State High School Tournament on Saturday in Huntington. Nice, who wrestled 126-pound weight class, improved to 44-3 on the season and 154-10 for his career. A four-time state placer, Nice was fourth in 2014, sixth in 2015 and third a year ago. Nice was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler in Class A. Sports writer Bruce Crawford will spill more ink about Nice next week.
Meanwhile, TCHS grappler Cory Chipps took home sixth place honors in the 285-pound weight class, 7-3, at the state tournament. Congrats goes to Chipps!
