Gail Ann Foley

Gail Ann Foley, born October 7, 1952, in Detroit, Mich., passed from this life at her home in Deep Valley, WV, on September 21, 2016, surrounded by loving family.

She is survived by her mother, Janith Young; sister, Susan DeVries; husband, Richard Foley; and children, Thomas, Patrick, and Rheanna.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Robb Roy Petrie and her father, George A. Petrie of Michigan.

She grew up in the Detroit, Mich., area through high school, participating in the local chapter of the Girl Scouts of America. She received her B.S. in chemistry from Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Gail moved to rural West Virginia in the mid- 1970s, where she met her husband, Richard and started a family. She volunteered much of her time to several family-service organizations in West Virginia, serving as the chair of the West Virginia Early Intervention Interagency Coordinating Council as well as working with the Tyler County Family Resources Network, among others.

Gail later returned to school at West Virginia University of Parkersburg to complete a degree in Nursing. She worked the last few years of her life as nurse for Westbrook Health Services in Parkersburg, W.Va.

In addition, Gail operated a small herbal supply business, Hilltop Herbs for several years.

As well as being a vivacious reader, Gail enjoyed gardening, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.

Visitation for Gail was from noon to 2 p.m. on Monday, September 26, 2016, at the McCullough- Rogers Funeral Home, Pennsboro, WV. Graveside service followed in the Spring Hill Cemetery in Josephs Mills, W.Va.
