Honoring America’s finest
Memorial Day ceremonies were held all over the Nation on Monday, paying homage to America’s war dead. In Sistersville, the American Legion Post #67 and VFW Post #6327 held the “Missing Man” service at the Veteran’s Memorial Park. A wreath was placed at the memorial as well as in the Ohio River to honor America’s military and veterans.
The annual Poppy Drive was kicked off by the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 67 by introducing the young ladies running for Poppy Queen (see page 5), and three local graduating seniors, Carter Lasik, Curtis Shepherd, and Christina Conner, signing up to be part of America’s fighting forces were honored.
The public was invited to go to the American Legion Post for a hot meal after the ceremonies.
Memorial Day ceremonies in Paden City were sponsored by the Paden City Park and Pool Commission and featured tributes to the American military and veterans. Featured speakers at the event were Jeff White, Paden City Christian Church minister; Susan Wade, President American Legion Unit 86; John Hopkins, Paden City Mayor; and Josh Billiter, Commander American Legion Post #86.
