Ridgways celebrate 50th

Arlene and Merce Ridgway

Maurice (Merce) and Arlene Ridgway celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on April 3. The couple were married on April 3, 1964 in Bayville, N.J. Merce had just completed service in the Marine Corp and Arlene was a widow with four children.

They added two daughters to the family. On March 7, 1987 they moved to Shirley, WV. Merce had been a commercial shell-fisherman in New Jersey. He is also a musician, songwriter and produced many music shows in both states. He is a published author. He also volunteers playing guitar at the Louis A. Johnson VA hospital in Clarksburg, WV. He is working on his 400 hour pin.

Arlene is a homemaker, was a co-producer, secretary and published author. They have six children: R. Thomas (Patricia) Gille of N.J. and WV; Cathy (Jon) Foreman of Ohio; Virginia (Patrick) of Keller, WV; Wendy (Danny) Roush, Ohio; Amber Ridgway Castle (Phil) of N.J.; and Jennifer (John) Parker, WV.

Their grandchildren are: Emmy and Bayman Gille; Jon Foreman Jr.; Justin (Meghan) Gille; Morgan Reynolds, Jared Tripp, Ethan Castle, Melissa Ridgway and Aaron Hammarstrom.

They have two great- granddaughters: Emma Jade and Virginia Sky and two step great-grands, Dakota and Desiree.
