Touchdown club forms to support Knights

By Staff | May 1, 2013

In order to garner more community spirit and involvement for the Silver Knight athletic teams at Tyler Consolidated, a Touchdown Club is being formed.

Though the Touchdown Club will focus on the Silver Knight varsity and junior varsity football team at this time, it is hoped with the success of this group, support of all other athletics will follow suit.

When the 2013 West Virginia High School football season begins, the Consolidated Knights will be under the mentorship of a new head coach, Ryan Walton. With the change in coaching comes a new era of Knight football, thus a new hope of spirit and support in the community.

The purpose of the club will be to offer support to football players and coaching staff by providing service, encouragement, nourishment and recognition. The overall goal is to get the community involved in organizing and participating in activities for a successful football season.

Committees will be formed and an overview of what to expect from the Touchdown Club will be discussed at the first meeting on May 6 at 6 p.m. in the school auditorium. Everyone interested in participating is encouraged to attend and bring their ideas and suggestions to the group. Committees under consideration at this time are: Pre-game meals; Coaches snacks; Practice treats; Worker bees; Tailgaters; Community Involvement; and Memory Book. Each of these committees will be overseen by a co-captain responsible for communicating committee activities and information to members of their committee.
