With Sectional play scheduled for the week of April 29 May 4, West Virginia High School softball teams have about two weeks left in the regular season. The Lady Knights of Tyler Consolidated and Lady Wildcats of Paden City will be hoping to get some wins under their belts and will be undoubtedly sharpening their fundamental skills in order to get ready for post-season play.

Lady Knights

The Lady Crusaders of Parkersburg visited in Tyler County on April 9, but returned home with the 12-9 loss at the hands of the Silver and Black.

The Moore twins controlled the circle in the game for the Lady K's with Jasmine striking out four and walking one, and Devinn coming on to strike out three more to get the win.

At the plate, Shandi Long went 4-5 hitting three singles and a double; Tiffany Smith had two singles; Alex Bubenchik placed two singles and a triple; Martina Parrish, a single and a double; Kali Shanabarger singled and tripled; Devinn Moore and Bailey Smith each hit two singles on the night.

Tyler Consolidated played at River on April 9, falling to the Lady Pilots. River scored five runs in the first inning to take a decided lead over the Silver and capped it off with five more in the bottom of the fifth to take the 13-2 win over the Lady Knights.

Devinn Moore took the loss as the pitcher for the Silver, walking four batters and striking out three. Martina Parrish doubled and collected an RBI in the game while Jasmine Moore singled to bring home one run.

On April 11, the Lady Bulldogs of Doddridge County handed two straight losses to the Lady Knights in a double header at Tyler Consolidated. In the first game, Doddridge came on strong in the fifth inning to score 12, thus putting the Knights on the short end of the 13-3 score.

Devinn Moore walked four and struck out three batters in the effort. Bubenchick singled three times.

In the second game of the evening, the Lady Bulldogs continued their winning ways with a 14-1 defeat of the Silver and Black.

Jasmine Moore handled the duties in the circle. Bailey Smith singled and doubled.

The Lady Knights took on the Lady Eagles of Magnolia on Monday at Tyler Consolidated in a double header event, but fell to the Gold and Blue in both games.

In the early game, the Eagles kept the Knights scoreless to take the win, 12-0. In the second game, the Ladies in Black gave a better effort, but it was too-little-too-late as the Eagles topped the 9-1 score.

The Lady Knights' win loss record stands at 4-12 at this point of the season with a busy week ahead of them. On Tuesday the team was on the road to South Harrison; today they will host Paden City in a double header at Tyler Consolidated; Thursday will see them at Parkersburg Catholic; and they will complete their weekly schedule at home vs. Ravenswood in a double header on Saturday.
