Winning their sixth and seventh games of the season in succession against two good opponents should give fans of the Tyler Consolidated Silver Knights something to cheer about this week. The Knights won over both Williamstown and Weirton Madonna in close contests.

The Knights faced off with the Yellow Jackets of Williamstown on Jan. 25 at home, taking down the Maroon to the tune of 58-49 for their seventh win of the season.

Tyler Consolidated put their best foot forward in the game, jumping out to capture the lead 11-6 in the first period and lengthening that lead by half time to 29-18. In the second half, Williamstown came on strong, but not in time to pocket the win.

Junior Dylan Romine led all Knight scorers in the game with 15 points. He also brought down four rebounds, had one assist, blocked two shots and had five steals in the game. Scott Sole added 12 points, had two rebounds, three assists and three steals; Darren Heintzman scored 10, had seven rebounds, blocked two shots and had three steals; Dylan Reynolds, eight points, one rebound, four assists, one steal; Cole Kocher, seven points, eight rebounds; three assists, one steal; Randall Eastham, four points, one steal, four rebounds and five blocks; Tim Edwards scored two and brought down one rebound; and Drew Casey was credited with three rebounds.

Their determination and never-say-die attitude showed itself on Jan. 26 at the Magnolia Classic as the Silver Knights took on Weirton Madonna and held on for the 68-65 win at the end when it mattered most.

The two teams matched up very well together and it showed on the court as the lead in the game changed hands several times before the final buzzer rang. A difficult third period when they were held to a mere nine points had Knight fans on the edge of their seats, but the Silver’s determination kicked in, getting the win.

Romine was on his game in this one, scoring 22 points, pulling down five rebounds, stealing the ball six times and racking up five assists. Sole scored 13 points, had three rebounds, stole the ball three times and had two assists; Heintzman added 12 points and had three rebounds; Kocher, seven points, one rebound, one assist and one steal; Reynolds, six points, one rebound, three assists and one steal; Eastham, six points, five rebounds, one assist, one steal; and Casey, two points, one rebound.

The Silver Knights can be seen in action again on Feb. 1 at Wirt County and at home against Ravenswood on Feb. 2.
