Board okays items

The Tyler County Board of Education met on Nov. 26 at 7 p.m. to discuss usual business.

In attendance were Superintendent Robin Daquilante and Board Members Linda Hoover, P.J. Wells, Larry Thomas, Ken Hunt and Jimmy Wyatt.

In the matter of personnel, the board approved the resignation of Terry Snively. Snively was the assistant football coach for Tyler Consolidated High School. His resignation was effective on Nov. 9.

Tyler Consolidated High School Band Director Wayne Smith was approved professional leave day on Nov. 13 to attend a Band Director Clinic in Bridgeport, W.Va. In addition, Smith will also use professional leave days from Dec. 19-21 to attend the Mid-West International Band and Orchestra Clinic located in Chicago, Ill.

In the matter of requests, the board approved the following:

  • Sistersville Elementary School Principal Krista DeVaughn will take the student body in grades Kindergarten through five to Tyler Consolidated High School to attend the TCHS Band/Choir Christmas Concert on Dec. 14 with buses for transportation.
  • Choir Director Matt Jennings will take a select part of his choir to perform at the Middlebourne Christmas parade on Dec. 1.
  • Pamela Tarnecki will use the Sistersville Elementary School cafeteria to hold Girl Scout Brownie troop meetings through May 2013.

The board approved the minutes of the Nov. 5 meeting and also paid the bills.

The board agreed to change the next meeting from Dec. 3 to Dec. 10. Therefore, the next regular meeting of the Tyler County Board of Education will be Dec. 10 at the Tyler County Board of Education Office located inside Tyler Consolidated High School at 7 p.m.
