LETTERS TO THE EDITOR POLICY:
The Tyler Star News welcomes letters to the editor from area readers and observes the following policy:
Letters should be no more than 400 words in length and must include the author’s signature, city of residence and telephone number for verification purposes. The Tyler Star News will only print letters of thanks from nonprofit agencies, community organizations or community organizations or those involved in a public issue. The Tyler Star News reserves the right to reject any letter for publication or edit them to conform to the newspaper’s style. Letters of a slanderous or libelous nature will not be printed.

SOCIETY NEWS POLICY:
The Tyler Star News gladly accepts news items concerning births, birthdays, engagements, weddings and anniversaries.
Submissions accepted for publication include birth anouncements, birthdays for children turning one through 10 years old, adult birthdays beginning at 75 years old, engagements, wedding announcements and wedding anniversaries of 25 years or more.
Submissions should be no longer than 500 words in length and should include the first and last names of all individuals included in the announcement. If the event takes place outside of the local reading area, the submission should also include an explanation of relevance to the area. All submissions must include a telephone number for verification purposes.
Photos should be wallet-size or larger and may be color or black and white. Instant camera photos will not be accepted. Photos sent electronically must be in the jpeg format at a resolution of 200 dpi or higher and may be sent to email@example.com. Photos to be returned must include a self- addressed, stamped envelope. Photos may be picked up at the Tyler Star News office after publication. The Tyler Star News does not hold photographs longer than one year after publication.
The deadline for submission is 5 p.m. Friday. Items are published as space permits. Dated material is given priority. Items may be submitted by mail to Tyler Star News, P.O. Box 191, Sistersville, W.Va., 26175; by e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org ; or in person at 727 Wells St., Sistersville. Office hours are from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Items without photos may be faxed to (304) 652- 4141.
The Tyler Star News reserves the right to edit all copy for brevity and clarity.
COMING EVENTS POLICY:
The Tyler Star News welcomes submissions to the "Coming Events" page. Events must be 60 words or less and have a local connection.
Meetings or events that are free of charge and fundraising events for charity may be listed at no charge in Coming Events.
Events that are being held for the purpose of non-charitiable monetary gain are required to pay the rate of 20 words for $10 and $25 for each additional word.
All free announcements may be edited at our discretion.
Local events, timely in nature, and paid listings will take precedence over those outside of Tyler county.
Events may be emailed to email@example.com, faxed to 304-652-1454 or mail to P.O. Box 191, Sistersville, WV 26175.
Events will not be taken over the telephone.
